Len Piro
Len Piro, Executive Director for Manufacturing, Services and Business Sustainability at the Department of Trade and Economic Development will be our guest speaker for April Adelaide Sustainability Drinks. Len will be sharing his knowledge on the exciting redevelopment of the Tonsley Park area into a Sustainable industries hub and Cleantech precinct.
Len’s extensive experience in manufacturing, policy and program delivery, spans a rich network of industry, University, Commonwealth and other State Government relationships.
At DTED, Len leads the Department’s service delivery functions to manufacturing and knowledge intensive services as well as the approach to Business Sustainability and Cleantech. He has been instrumental in delivering a number of Commonwealth and State based Structural Adjustment Programs including negotiating and managing the $80m assistance package following closure of Mitsubishi’s Tonsley Park and Lonsdale manufacturing facilities.
Len has represented SA numerous national Boards and Committees including the national Board of Enterprise Connect ($250m program) and the Automotive Industry Innovation Council.
Prior to his current and other earlier Director roles at DTED Len held positions as a Director within the Centre for Innovation Business and Manufacturing, Executive Direct / General Manager of the SA Centre for Manufacturing, Manager of the Manufacturing Advisory Council and Senior Consultant / Administration Manager at SA Workplace Resource Centre Limited.
